Our Roots

Howdy, friends! We are Pollen to Petal, and we’ve been reclaiming the Ozarks professionally since 2022. Our commitment to pollinator habitat restoration, native plant cultivation, and nerdy ecology research and tech is how this all came together.

The seeds were planted pre-pandemic while watching ‘professional’ landscapers tackle our neighbor’s property redesign…. for the second time. As expected, they planted the wrong plants, in the wrong place, at the wrong time of year. Not a native or pollinator friendly plant in sight. Something wasn’t adding up. Why do all these neighborhoods look like they were planted by the same company? Why is everyone watering in 100-degree weather when the coneflower in the field next to me is thriving and it hasn’t rained in two months? Where the heck are the bees and fireflies?!

We decided to do something about all that. Having technology and agricultural degrees in our backgrounds, we knew there was a way to change the trajectory of native ecology in the Ozarks. Pollen to Petal was created to help you look at your property from a research-based perspective. Give us a shout so we can nerd out on your questions!

Sa’dia Luallen-Blattert

Native Design Queen & Seed Librarian

I’ve been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. The value in seeing my client’s ideas come to life and the relationships that come with that drove me to create Pollen to Petal. A lot of folks just want to be heard! I find that dialog doesn’t always exist in landscape design. My education in agriculture and soil science allows me to help our clients see the potential in their property. You’ve got ideas, I’ve got answers!

My hobbies are as diverse as my background. You can find me in the garage teaching Drew how to work on our ’66 Beetle, Lydia, organizing our tool collection for the 100th time, volunteering in the community, and carrying around my seed harvesting bags to weird places (just in case!). My favorite spot…. covered in cats, sitting next to my Border Collie, reading the latest book release written by my best friend, Paulette Kennedy!

Plant Whisperer & Code Wrangler

25+ years in tech taught me to approach problems analytically and build solutions that scale. Native ecosystem restoration needs exactly that mindset. Understanding soil chemistry, pollinator lifecycles, seasonal plant succession, and most importantly, client relationships, requires the same framework as planning successful software deployment…. just with better scenery and fewer meetings!

Outside of work, catch me designing 3d printed habitats, rolling d20s with my nerd buddies, off roading with our Border Collie and Aussie, or listening to St Louis Cardinals baseball on the radio while I pretend to help Sa’dia work on our ’66 Beetle 😁.
